Larry Tucker

Larry Tucker (born June 23, 1934 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † April 1, 2001 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American screenwriter , actor and producer.

Life

Tucker first worked as a comedian and writer with Mort Sahl in San Francisco in the 1950s . In the early 1960s he switched from nightclubs to film and television and was seen as an actor through 1971. From the middle of the decade he also appeared as a screenwriter. As such, he often worked with Paul Mazursky and Tucker also produced his films. In the 1980s, Tucker focused his work exclusively on television series.

As an actor, Tucker was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Young Actor for his role in Shock Corridor .

For the screenplay Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice , Tucker and Mazursky were nominated for an Oscar in 1970 for Best Original Screenplay, they were recognized for Best Screenplay by the National Society of Film Critics , and they won a Writers Guild of America Award . The two were also nominated at the British Academy Film Awards in 1971 and received an award from the New York Film Critics Circle for their script .

At the Emmy Awards in 1964 and 1966 , he was nominated for an award for his work on The Danny Kaye Show .

Tucker died of complications from multiple sclerosis and cancer.
