Life
Miranda Richardson's father, William Alan Richardson, was an executive in a clothing store. Her sister Leslie was born in 1949.
Miranda Richardson appeared in school performances from an early age and already showed marked talent here. At the age of 17, she left school with the aim of becoming a veterinarian . However, she also considered studying English literature in college. She decided to focus on drama and enroll at the Bristol Old Vic Theater School (like many well-known British actors). After three years she graduated and switched to repertoire theater.
After her film debut in Dance with a Stranger from 1985, she was seen two years later in Steven Spielberg's film drama The Empire of the Sun in a major supporting role, with which she achieved her international breakthrough. The following years followed a number of other films in which Richardson took leading roles, such as Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow , Kansas City , The Crying Game and Enchanted April , for which Richardson was awarded the Golden Globe . She is best known to younger audiences for her role as the scandal reporter Rita Kimmkorn from the Harry Potter films.
In addition to her film career, she also made a name for herself as a television actress in Great Britain. So she played the role of Queen Elizabeth I in the second season of the series Blackadder . In an episode of The Storyteller , she appeared in a guest role as a witch. She also starred in the 2006 sitcom The Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle alongside Jennifer Saunders .
Miranda Richardson currently lives in West London with her four pets .
