iBoy is a British science fiction - thriller from the year 2017 by Adam Randall with Bill Milner and Maisie Williams in the lead roles. The script is based on the novel of the same name by Kevin Brooks .

Tom Harvey was just a normal teenager until one day he got into a shootout. Parts of his smartphone get into his head. After waking from the coma, he finds that the parts cannot be removed from his head. The broken cell phone suddenly gives Tom superpowers, so he can go online through his thoughts, listen to phone calls, track text messages and process vast amounts of data. In addition, he can shoot electrical impulses through his strength and generate force fields.
Through his skills, he learns that his best friend Lucy Walker, with whom he is secretly in love, was done something terrible by other teenagers. With the help of his new skills, Tom wants to take revenge on the perpetrators, but overshoots the mark.

As early as 2013 there were plans to film the novel iBoy by Kevin Brooks . Back then, Will Poulter was slated to play the lead while Adam Randall would direct and the script was written by Joe Barton . Shooting should start in February 2014. However, Poulter left the project, which is why it was put on hold for the first time. In February 2016, the streaming service Netflix took over the project and hired Bill Milner and Maisie Williams for the leading roles. The film is produced by Wigwam Films, Pretty Pictures, XYZ Films and Netflix. The film was shot in London in February and March 2016 .
The first trailer was streamed two weeks before the film was released.
