Such an affair (Original title: The Facts of Life ) is an American love affair from 1960 by United Artists with Bob Hope and Lucille Ball , who have an affair in the film. Hope's long-time companions Melvin Frank and Norman Panama were responsible for the script, direction and production . The film won an Oscar for best costume design .

The cinema release in the USA was on November 14th, 1960. In the Federal Republic of Germany the film opened on March 17th, 1961.

action

Kitty Weaver and Larry Gilbert are frustrated by the routine on the Gilbert, Mason and Weaver couple's annual vacation in Acapulco . Since their spouses had to stay home at the last minute and the Masons are sick in bed, Kitty and Larry depend on each other and begin a love affair. When the vacation is over, they face the decision to end or continue the romance. But in the trivialities of everyday life, they realize that they still love their spouse.

The lexicon of international films described the film as "a humorous chamber play that treats the subject of adultery with great tact and can come up with good actors". The film website kino.de noted that the numerous slapstick scenes would “sometimes seem a bit clumsy”.

The film was also nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Picture . Leading actors Bob Hope and Lucille Ball received nominations for Best Actress and Best Actor - Comedy or Musical .
