Kenneth A. Reid

Kenneth A. Reid (born March 17, 1919 in Uruguay , † June 30, 1996 in Los Angeles , California ) was a production designer and art director .

Life

Reid began his career on the film staff in 1958 with television, where he mainly worked until 1981. He has appeared on numerous entertainment shows including five episodes of the Bill Dana Show , 103 episodes of the Joey Bishop Show, and 158 episodes of the Dick Van Dyke Show . Between 1960 and 1968 he also worked on 235 episodes of the Andy Griffith Show . He also worked on the sitcoms Rhoda and Taxi , among others .

In total, Reid worked on four feature film productions, beginning with Melvin Frank's romantic comedy Such an Affair . In 1961 he was nominated for the Oscar in the category of best production design together with J. McMillan Johnson and Ross Dowd , but the award went to Billy Wilder's Das Appartement that year . His other films were Jacques Demy's The Photo Model , William Wyler's The Embers of Violence and Jacques Deray's Brutal Shadow .

Reid retired from the film and television business in the early 1980s and died in Los Angeles in 1966 at the age of 77.
