The Facts of Life (mutatis mutandis The Facts of Life ) is a song from the soundtrack of the romantic comedy So an affair (original title The Facts of Life ) from 1960. Composed and texted was the song by Johnny Mercer . It is sung in the film by Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gormé . The studio orchestra will play under the direction of Leigh Harline . The couple performed under the name Steve & Eydie. They sang the theme song of the film of the same name in English-speaking countries, but did not act there. The song is sung in full in the opening credits of the film and is repeated over and over again during the course of the film.

Academy Awards 1961

In 1961 , Johnny Mercer was nominated for an Oscar for the song The Facts of Life in the "Best Song" category. It was his 12th Academy Award nomination. The award, however, went to Manos Hadjidakis and the song Ta pedia tou Pirea (English title Never on Sunday ) from the comedy film Sonntags ... nie! where it was sung by Melina Mercouri .
