The Río Verdeyacu is the 77 km long headwaters of the Río Jatunyacu in the Napo Province in Ecuador .

River course

The Río Verdeyacu rises in the Cordillera Real , 35 km east of the Cotopaxi , at an altitude of about 3950  m . It flows mainly in a southerly direction through the mountains. It takes in the rivers Río Antisana , Río Chalupas and Río Tigreyacu from the right. The Río Verdeyacu finally meets the Río Mulatos coming from the west , with which it joins the Río Jatunyacu.

Catchment area

The catchment area of the Río Verdeyacu covers an area of ​​around 1970 km². It extends in the north to the Antisana volcano , in the west to the Cotopaxi. In the southwest of the catchment area lies the 4,878  m high Quilindaña volcano .
