Holly Marie Combs (born December 3, 1973 in San Diego ) is an American actress , producer , and animal and environmental activist . She gained international fame primarily through the role of Piper Halliwell in the television series Charmed .

Life

Holly Marie Combs was born in San Diego to the then 15-year-old Lauralei Combs. When Combs was eight, they moved to New York .

At the age of 15 she got her first film roles, for example in Sweet Hearts Dance . She became known for the role of Kimberly Brock , which she played from 1992 for four years in the television series Picket Fences . From 1998 to 2006 she played the role of Piper Halliwell in the television series Charmed, alongside Shannen Doherty , Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan . From 2002 she was the producer of the series together with her colleague Milano. From 2010 to 2017 she starred as Ella Montgomery in Pretty Little Liars .

From 1993 to 1997 Combs was married to Bryan Smith's first marriage. Since February 14, 2004 she was married to David Donoho, with whom she had already lived for two years, they have three sons together (* 2004, * 2006 and * 2009). In November 2011, she filed for divorce. She has been married to restaurateur Mike Ryan since 2019.

Working for the marine conservation organization Sea Shepherd

At the 40th anniversary of the marine conservation organization Sea Shepherd , Holly Marie Combs said that she has been supporting Sea Shepherd since 2011 because the organization has a very large global impact . Other organizations that she supports are the Dolphin Project and PETA .

In March 2014, she went out to sea with Shannen Doherty and the Sea Shepherd crew to demonstrate the effects of a new Australian law that allows the killing of large sharks .

In August 2014, she challenged Sea Shepherd founder Paul Watson and the Sea Shepherd crew at the Ice Bucket Challenge , drawing attention to the marine conservation organization.

Holly Marie Combs demonstrated against the killing of dolphins in Taiji , Japan and called for a boycott of Sea World.

Together with Sea Shepherd supporter Richard Dean Anderson , Holly Marie Combs produced the documentary Why Just One , based on the Sea Shepherd Operation Jairo campaign .
