Alicia Roanne Witt (born August 21, 1975 in Worcester , Massachusetts ) is an American actress and musician .

Life

Alicia Witt made her acting debut in 1984 in David Lynch's The Desert Planet . After that, she graduated from high school and did not return to Twin Peaks until 1990 . Three years later she shot again with Lynch for his trilogy Hotel Room . In 1994 she was for her starring role in Rafal Zielinski film Fun - blast with the Special Jury Recognition Award of the Sundance Film Festival honored. She was also nominated for the Independent Spirit Award . In 1995 she was seen alongside Richard Dreyfuss in Mr. Holland's Opus . From 1995 to 1998 she played the daughter of Cybill Shepherd in their sitcom Cybill . In 2002 she starred alongside Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant in the comedy A Boss to Fall in Love with , and in 2005 she starred alongside Joan Allen and Kevin Costner in the film On Your Shoulder . In 2007 she had a temporary lead role in the television series Criminal Intent , where she portrayed Detective Nola Falacci , who represented Det. Megan Wheeler .

In addition to her work as an actress, Witt is also active as a musician and released her first EP Alicia Witt with four original compositions on iTunes in July 2009 . After two digital singles ( Me or New York and Santa Baby , 2011), the music album Live at Rockwood was released in May 2012 . This production was financed with own funds and via the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.com .
