Sela Ann Ward (born July 11, 1956 in Meridian , Mississippi ) is an American actress .

Life and accomplishments

Sela Ward attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa with Bob Baumhower , the future football star of the Miami Dolphins .

She moved to New York City to work for an advertising agency, but soon embarked on a career as a photo model .

She began her acting career in 1983 with a brief appearance in the short-lived American television series Emerald Point NAS. In the same year she appeared in Blake Edwards ' comedy film Women were his Hobby on the side of Burt Reynolds and Julie Andrews .

Ward subsequently focused on television and took on roles in well-known series such as Hotel , LA Law and A Strauss of Daughters . Her appearance in A Strauss of Daughters earned her the first of two Emmys in 1994 . She was honored with her second Emmy in 2000 and a Golden Globe in 2001 for her role in the series Once again with feelings . In 2001 she was nominated for an Emmy for the same role, in 2000 and 2002 she received a nomination for the Golden Globe.

In 2005 and 2006 she took on a recurring role in the television series Dr. House , in which she plays Stacy Warner, Gregory House's ex-girlfriend and the hospital attorney. From 2010 to 2013 she played the role of Josephine "Jo" Danville in the series CSI: NY .

Ward dated actor Richard Dean Anderson for three years . She has been married to businessman Howard Sherman since 1992, with whom she has two children.

In 2017, Sela Ward was nominated for the Golden Raspberry for Worst Supporting Actress for her role in Independence Day: Return .
