Old masters

The term old master has several meanings:

  • in mythology see Nestor (mythology)
  • at the university it is the name for a copy of an assignment sheet for an exam that has already been carried out
  • in painting see old masters
  • In sport, it refers to a formerly dominant athlete or sports club, in German football often FC Schalke 04 and 1. FC Nürnberg , which were the most successful teams in Germany before the Bundesliga was founded, but were hardly able to build on old successes afterwards.
