The Good Fight ( English for The Good Fight is) a US-American drama series by Robert and Michelle King and Phil Alden Robinson . It is a spin-off of the series Good Wife, which aired on CBS from 2009 to 2016 . The first episode premiered on TV on February 19, 2017 on CBS; the other episodes will be published via the streaming service CBS All Access . In German-speaking countries, the first season was shown from November 7, 2017 to January 9, 2018 on the pay TV channel FOX . The broadcast of a 13-part second season began on March 4, 2018 in the USA and on June 12, 2018 in German-speaking countries. A third season aired on Fox through early summer 2019. On April 9, 2020, the fourth season began to be released on CBS All Access in the United States. In May 2020, the series was extended for a fifth season.

The main character of the series is the lawyer Diane Lockhart, known from the mother’s series, who was forced out of her own law firm after a financial scandal that took away all of her savings. Another main character is Diane's goddaughter Maia, whose father is responsible for the scandal and which also affects her reputation as a young lawyer . They start together in the law firm Reddick, Boseman & Kolstad , which was initially run exclusively by Afro-Americans and which also employs Diane's former colleague Lucca Quinn.
