Phil Alden Robinson
Phil Alden Robinson (born March 1, 1950 in New York City ) is an American film director and screenwriter .
Life
Robinson began his film career as a screenwriter in the early 1980s when he wrote two scripts for the television series Trapper John, MD .
In 1987 Robinson made his debut as a director with the comedy In the Mood , for which he also wrote the script himself. In 1989 he made his second film as a director, Feld der Träume . For this production, Robinson was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Adapted Screenplay . The following film, Sneakers, was also a success.
In 2001 Robinson directed an episode of the miniseries Band of Brothers - We Were Like Brothers . For this work received the Emmy together with the other participating directors . For his 2000 directed film Freedom Song , he received the WGA Award for television from the Writers Guild of America . He had already received the Valentine Davies Award in 1994.
