William Lustig

William Lustig (born February 1, 1955 in New York City ) is an American film director and producer.

Life

William Lustig's first directorial work was the porn films The Violation of Claudia and Hot Honey , which he shot under the pseudonym Billy Bagg . He became known through the horror film Maniac , which he produced in collaboration with Joe Spinell and which he presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 1980. In 1988 he made the horror film Maniac Cop , for the two sequels of which he also worked as a director.

Since 1996 he has concentrated on his work as an executive producer in the film business for documentaries about the film industry. He also runs the Blue Underground DVD company, which publishes horror and exploitation films in particular. In 2012 he was involved in the production of Alexandre Aja's Maniac .

His daughter Marni Lustig is an actress.
