from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Natural Science and Historical Association for the State of Lippe , NHV for short , sees its task in the care of the natural sciences , prehistory and early history , history and regional studies as well as the folklore and art history of the Lippe region (→ see also: Natural Research Society ).

Club history

The "Natural Science Association for the Principality of Lippe" was jointly founded in Detmold in 1835 . The first chairman was Hofrat Dr. Karl Piderit , co-founder was Heinrich Schierenberg . A few months later the association already had over 100 members. His main task was initially to establish and maintain a natural history collection for the Principality of Lippe, which was built up in the newly founded Natural History Museum. In the early years of the association, Carl Weerth , Georg Weerth's brother , was the driving force. He was also the curator of the collection when the museum set special accents in the international museum community between 1860 and 1870 by exhibiting large mammals in natural movement in natural surroundings as diorama presentations . In 1892, under the chairman Otto Weerth, a state-subsidized museum for antiquity, art and art history was affiliated. This created the basis for today's Lippisches Landesmuseum , the administration of which the association transferred to the Free State of Lippe in 1919 .

Since 1902, the association has increasingly devoted itself to researching Lippe's history, prehistory and folklore and regional studies. From 1946 onwards he called himself the "Natural Science and Historical Association for the State of Lippe eV". It currently has around 700 members.
