Harald Lönnecker

Harald Lönnecker (born July 28, 1963 in Hanover ) is a German historian , archivist and lawyer . He is considered to be "currently the best proven German student historian ".

ancestors

Lönnecker is the grandson of the automobile and motorsport pioneer August Lönnecker (1905–1981), great-great-nephew of Karl Lönneker , great-great-nephew of Julius Wagner-Jauregg and great-great-great- nephew of Friedrich Martius . Through his ancestor Maria Gimborn (1791-1837), illegitimate daughter of Count Ludwig von Wallmoden-Gimborn , married Boessler von Eichenfeld , he is a descendant of Georg II August .

Life

After graduating from high school in Hanover, Lönnecker served in the German Navy . He then studied history , law , Protestant theology , geography , European ethnology , Latin philology , musicology and German at the Philipps University of Marburg , the Justus Liebig University of Gießen , the Ruprecht Karls University of Heidelberg , and the Albert Ludwigs University Freiburg and the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main . He passed both state examinations, became an assessor and obtained a Magister Artium . With a doctoral thesis at Peter Rück , he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD . In 1992 Lönnecker discovered the archive of German singers , which he secured and scientifically examined. One result is his habilitation in February 2015.

After working at the Hessian State Archives in Darmstadt , at the Military History Research Office and at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung , Lönnecker has been head of the archive and library of the German Burschenschaft and the Society for Burschenschaftliche History Research in the Federal Archives in Koblenz since 1995 . At the University of Paderborn he had a teaching position for modern history. His areas of work are the general history of science and universities, the history of political parties and associations, historical club research, history of the press (media) and mass media , history of music and historiography , national and legal history , historical auxiliary sciences and archival studies . In the student history he is particularly dedicated to the academic singing .

The University of Rostock did his doctorate with the dissertation "... giving the German student body and our legal life some impetus" - between association and connection, self-help organization and study association. Legal associations at German universities approx. 1870–1918 with Ralph Weber in July 2013 summa cum laude for Dr. iur. The Technical University of Chemnitz appointed him a private lecturer at the Institute for European History in 2015 .
