Kathy Najimy (* 6. February 1957 in San Diego , California as Katherine Ann Najimy ) is an American actress .

Life

Najimy's parents were of Lebanese descent. Najimy is best known for her roles as sister Mary Patrick in Sister Act and Sister Act 2 and the role as one of the Sanderson sisters, which she embodies together with Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker in Hocus Pocus .

Kathy Najimy married Dan Finnerty in August 1995 ; their first daughter was born in 1996, whose godmother is Ellen DeGeneres . Najimy is known as an activist for gay rights , women's and human rights . She is bisexual and a vegetarian herself .

In 2004 she was named Woman of the Year by Ms. Magazine .
