action

The androgynous Pat Riley is a chubby, whiny and obnoxious young person who constantly changes jobs and looks for a steady livelihood. She meets Chris, who is also androgynous. The two fall in love and begin a relationship. Meanwhile, Pat's neighbor, Kyle Jacobsen, develops an unhealthy obsession: he wants to reveal Pat's gender and begins to pursue her. Kyle sends a band that Pat sings karaoke on to a TV show called America's Creepiest People , which brings the band Ween to Pat. They let Pat play the tuba during one of their performances . When Pat learns that the band intends to use them only for one gig, she and Chris end their relationship.

Kyle steals Pat's laptop, which has her diary on it, and tries to force her to give him the password so that he can access the files. Pat's only answer is that the password is in the dictionary. Kyle starts typing every single word in the dictionary.

Meanwhile, a gang of thugs who are also trying to expose Pat's gender begins to molest her. Distraught by the androgynous nature of the thugs, Pat complains to her friend, Kathy, who is a therapist and presenter on a radio talk show. When Pat intimidates the callers, Kathy is fired and replaced by Pat.

Kyle works through the entire dictionary down to the last word “zythum” (an Egyptian malt beer ), which is the password. After reading through the diary, he doesn't find any new information regarding Pat's gender and goes completely mad.

Kyle calls on Pat's radio show and tells her to go to Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum as this is Pat's only chance to get her laptop back. Pat appears and finds Kyle dressed just like her. Kyle demands that Pat take off his clothes, and she runs away. After Kyle cornered Pat on a catwalk, she falls and her clothes get caught on a hook. This rips Pat's pants off, but her genitals are not revealed to Kyle or the audience. Kyle is being taken away by security guards. Pat then sets off to catch up with Chris, who is about to leave on an ocean liner. Pat and Chris get married in an epilogue.

During the end credits, you can see Kathy, who is hosting her radio show again. Your first call is Kyle, whose obsession drove him to transvestism .

Charles Tatum wrote on eFilmCritic Reviews that he knew the film had a "terrible" reputation even before going to the cinema, but was unaware that it was "so terrible". He didn't laugh a single time. Tatum also wrote that he found Sweeney's character in the TV chains "nice" but that during the film he wished that someone would kill her.

On the other hand, the criticism in the lexicon of international films was relatively neutral : "A comedy in a relationship of a different kind, which addresses the burden and pleasure of being an outsider."
