Brenda Lee Strong (born March 25, 1960 in Brightwood , Oregon ) is an American actress .

Life

Brenda Strong grew up in Portland , Oregon and first attended Parkrose High School in Portland. After graduating from Sandy Union High, Sandy, Oregon, in 1978, she received her Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Arizona in musicals and theater. In 1980 she was Miss Arizona and then took part in the Miss America competition.

Brenda Strong was married to Tom Henri from July 1989 to January 2011 and they have one child. In addition to her work as an actress, she also works as a yoga teacher in Santa Monica , California .

Career

She started her acting career in the mid-1980s. After more than 90 guest appearances on television series such as Emergency Room , Everwood , Party of Five , Gilmore Girls , A Heavenly Family and Dawson's Creek , she made her breakthrough in the role of Mary Alice Young / Angela Forrest in Desperate Housewives . Sheryl Lee was originally intended for this role , with Brenda Strong filling in as a replacement. She was seen in the first two parts of Starship Troopers , but played different characters. From 2012 to 2014 she played the role of Ann Ewing in the TNT series Dallas , the sequel to the series of the same name from the 1980s.
