Joyce Van Patten

Joyce Van Patten (born March 9, 1934 in New York ) is an American theater and film actress .

Life

Joyce Van Patten was sent to auditions by her mother when she was only five months old, together with her brother Dick. When she was eight, she appeared on the radio and starred in the Broadway production Love’s Old Sweet Song . A little later, she and her brother had supporting roles in the films Reg'lar Fellers and The Wind is ninety . This was followed by appearances in numerous plays in the 1950s, such as B. in The Desk Set , A Hole in the Head , The Male Animal and The Tender Trap . She often played with her brother Dick.

Her film career began with small roles. So she had a silent role in Fourteen Hours and a small supporting role in The Goddess . This was followed by a television appearance in the soap opera Young and Passionate - How Life Works at the end of the 50s . She made her prime time debut as a regular guest on the Danny Kaye Show . After four seasons, she finished her arrangement to star on the sitcom The Good Guys opposite Bob Denver and Herb Edelman . She embodied Edelman's wife Claudia Gramus . Guest appearances in countless television series and films followed. Some of the most famous on US television included The Andy Griffith Show , The Untouchables, and the Bob Newhart Show .

In Germany she became known through appearances in Detective Rockford - a call is enough , Perry Mason and Law & Order . However, Van Patten only reached the peak of her popularity in Germany in 1995 as Maureen Slattery in the sitcom Auf Schlimmer und Eternal . During the first two seasons she played the drug addict and ill-tempered mother-in-law of used car dealer Jack Malloy . She later appeared in two episodes of Desperate Housewives as Carol Prudy . Van Patten's brother Dick Van Patten was also an actor. Her half-brother Tim Van Patten , her sister-in-law Pat Van Patten, her nephews Vincent , Nels and James Van Patten and their son-in-law John Slattery also work in the film business.
