The doctors are unable to find organ donations for Phil Doucet, who has heart disease for a long time. His grandson Luke dies in an accident, whereupon Doucet's heart is transplanted . The man feels guilty, which is straining his relationship with his daughter and mother of the boy, Helen Porter. Doucet thinks about suicide. He gets to know Louise, who has fled her parents' house, and who commits a break-in. He takes care of the girl and learns that Louise was abused by her father. Doucet gets closer to his daughter again.

Film-Dienst wrote that the film is a “sentimental melodrama that neither deepens the subject of organ donation nor does it do justice to the aspect of child abuse”.
