Herb Edelman

Herbert "Herb" Edelman (born November 5, 1933 in Brooklyn , New York , NY - † July 21, 1996 in Woodland Hills , California ) was an American actor .

Life

Herb Edelman played the role of Stanley Zbornak in the television series Golden Girls , for which he was twice nominated for an Emmy Award. In the cinema he was seen as a police officer and poker friend of Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau in A Strange Couple , in the comedy Barefoot in the Park with Jane Fonda and Robert Redford , in Sydney Pollack's The Way We Were next to Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford and in The Crazy California Hotel alongside Michael Caine , Walter Matthau, Jane Fonda and Maggie Smith .

He has appeared in guest appearances in many series, including CHiPs , MacGyver , Cagney & Lacey , Matlock , LA Law , Charlie's Angels , Kojak , In a Secret Mission , The Boss , Mord is Her Hobby and Love Boat .

From 1964 to 1970 Edelman was married to the actress Louise Sorel , the marriage ended in divorce. He died of emphysema on July 21, 1996 .
