Powerman ( Wheels on Meals ) is a martial arts film filmed in Spain in 1984 with Jackie Chan , Yuen Biao and Sammo Hung in the lead roles. The latter also directed and was stunt coordinator.

action

The two Chinese emigrants Thomas and David run a mobile snack bar in Barcelona . When the two meet the pickpocket Sylvia, they immediately fall in love with her and of course help her when she is followed by a scary man. It turns out that this is a private detective and his job is to track down Sylvia, as she is the illegitimate daughter of a Spanish nobleman who has just passed away and left her with an inheritance of millions. The only catch is that Sylvia has to inherit her inheritance within two weeks.

But since Sylvia's evil uncle is after the money too, he hires a few villains who kidnap Sylvia and keep her in a castle until the deadline expires. When Thomas and David find out about this, they team up with the private detective Moby and break into the castle to free Sylvia. Although David is captured, they manage to join forces and defeat the villains.

Individual evidence

  • The film got the somewhat illogical English title ("Wheels on Food") from the production company Golden Harvest out of superstition. Previously, two produced films that began with an “M” had flopped, so the originally intended title Meals on Wheels was changed without further ado.
  • Highlights include a car chase through Barcelona, a fight with a motorcycle gang and the final battle in the castle.
  • Sammo Hung relocated the production of the film to Europe to make it more attractive for the international market. Therefore the kickboxer Urquidez and the karateka Keith Vitali also played, and Sylvia was cast with the former Miss Spain Lola Forner.
