Powerman 3 (English: Heart of Dragon ) is a martial arts film shot in Hong Kong in 1985 with Jackie Chan in the lead role. Directed by Sammo Hung .

action

The policeman Ted takes care of his mentally retarded brother Dodo. One day he witnessed a robbery and took a bag with stolen gemstones that one of the perpetrators lost. This gangster first confesses the loss to his boss, but then escapes to the police for fear of the punishment and offers himself as a key witness. But before the gangsters can be arrested, they kidnap Dodo. To help him, Ted resorted to a drastic means: He kidnapped the key witness from police custody in order to exchange him for his brother. Together with his friends and the gangsters, the hostage handover takes place on a construction site, which ends in a great fight, at the end of which Dodo is freed, but the two brothers are then arrested by the police.

Remarks

  • The German (!) Powerman trilogy also consists of Powerman ( Wheels on Meals , not to be confused with Tokyo Powerman, which is a film in the Lucky Stars series) and Powerman 2 (also a film in the Lucky Stars series). It is an opaque and arbitrary naming of the German distribution companies, who called and numbered films from different series simply because of the fact that Jackie Chan played with them, regardless of the original context.
  • Other titles under which this film was released: Heart of the Dragon, Heart of a Dragon, First Mission, The First Mission, Jackie Chan - Powerman III.
  • Jackie Chan made this film, in which 3 years before Rain Man the story of two brothers, one of whom is mentally retarded, is anticipated to show that he can play serious and complex roles. He succeeded, but his fans didn't want to see such a chan and the film was a financial flop.

Awards

  • Hong Kong Film Awards 1986: Nomination for Jackie Chan (Best Actor), Sammo Hung (Best Director). Winner: Man Yee Lam (Best Score).

criticism

"Jackie Chan as a noble avenger in an Eastern, whose German version was first cut and then dubbed to death."
