Powerman 2 ( Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Stars ) is a martial arts film filmed in Hong Kong in 1985 with Sammo Hung in the lead role. He also directed and was stunt coordinator.

action

The action starts where the last Lucky Stars movie Tokyo Powerman left off . As a reward for their victory against the ninja gang, the friends treat themselves to a holiday together in Thailand. But even here they do not come to rest. The police officer Barbara who traveled with them witnesses the murder of a parachutist. He had to die because he had a letter in his possession with important information about a criminal organization. Since the gangsters now suspect the letter is in Barbara, they pursue her.

At the same time, Ricky and Muscles watch other gangsters in the organization loading cocaine. You can find out that the gang boss's girlfriend is running an acting company. Then they pay her a visit, which leads to a final exchange of blows between the Lucky Stars and the criminals, which the friends can decide for themselves.

criticism

"Well done Eastern with parodic features and lousy German dubbing."

Individual evidence

  • This is the third film in the Lucky Stars series after Winners and Sinners and Tokyo Powerman .
  • The rather mediocre plot of the film is made up for by the many action and fighting scenes. In particular, it should be mentioned that the Australian martial artist Richard Norton makes his film debut in this film. He's also Giancarlo, the antagonist of Jackie Chan in the 1997 film Mr. Nice Guy .
  • Highlights include a brawl in a warehouse, a motorbike and car chase, and a duel with tennis rackets. In the latter scene, Jackie Chan was supposed to fight, but since he was still injured from filming Police Story , Sammo Hung jumped in.
  • The Powerman trilogy also consists of Powerman ( Wheels on Meals , not to be confused with Tokyo Powerman) and Powerman 3 .

Awards

  • Hong Kong Film Awards 1986: Nomination for Best Action Choreography
