Sibelle Hu

Sibelle Hu , actually Hu Huizhong (born May 4, 1958 in Taipei , Republic of China ) is a Taiwanese actress and singer who starred in films from Hong Kong and Taiwan . She starred in many action films from the 1980s and 1990s. After more than 60 films, she retired from the film business.

Life

Until 1981, Hu studied history at the Faculty of National Taiwan University. At the beginning of her career, she was mainly seen in romantic films. She should inherit colleague Brigitte Lin in this genre. Her debut "Your Smiling Face" had the biggest grossing Taiwanese film in Hong Kong. Hu's career has focused on melodramatic and romantic films such as "I sing I cry", "A Flower in the Storm" and "The Coldest Winter in Beijing" for which she was nominated for the 1981 Golden Horse Award for best actress.

In 1985 she starred alongside Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung in " Tokyo Powerman " and stayed true to the genre of the action film. From 1986 Hu was regularly seen in action films, where she almost always played a policewoman. During the making of the film "Devil Hunters" in 1989, Hu was seriously injured and badly burned in an explosive stunt.

Hu's career faded in the late 1990s, and she said goodbye to the big screen. Shortly afterwards she married a businessman and has since worked in various social functions. In 2000 she had her first child.
