Brigitte Lin ( Chinese  林青霞 , Pinyin Lín Qīngxiá , W.-G. Lin Ching-Hsia , Jyutping Lam ⁴ Cing ¹ haa ⁴ ; born November 3, 1954 in Taipei ) is a Taiwanese actress who gained fame mainly through Hong Kong productions.

She was discovered in 1972 at the age of 17 on a shopping street and in the film Out side my window she got the role of a student who falls in love with her teacher. She was in a relationship with actors Hong Chin and Charlie Chin Hsion-Lin. She has been married to Michael Lee Yuen Ying since 1994; their first daughter was born in 1997 and their second daughter in 2001.

Career

Brigitte Lin has appeared in over 100 films. She is known for her slightly androgynous beauty. In many films, she played a woman disguising herself as a man. At the height of her film career, she was without a doubt one of the most sought-after actresses in the Chinese film business.

She has been nominated for film awards several times. In 1976 she was named best actress at the Asia-Pacific Film Festival , and in 1990 she received the Golden Horse Award at the Taipei Film Festival. In 2006 an asteroid was named after her: (38821) Linchinghsia . In 1994, after their wedding, Lin left the film business, but had a minor supporting role in the 1998 film Bishonen ... Beauty . Since then, she made her first public appearance at the 2008 New York Film Festival.
