Ashes Of Time ( Chinese 東邪西毒 / 东邪西毒 , Pinyin Dōngxié Xīdú , W.-G. Dung che sai duk , Jyutping Dung 1 ce 4 Sai 1 duk 6 ) is a Chinese-Taiwanese wuxia film by the director Wong Kar-Wai . This is the director's first foray into the martial arts genre.
The film is loosely based on the characters in Jin Yong 's Legend of the Condor Heroes .
action
A man named Ouyang Feng lives in the middle of the desert who runs a pub there. The bar acts as a "marketplace" for swordsmen and people who want to give orders for murder - the two groups of people are brought together there. The inn is visited by many questionable characters. One of them is Huang Yaoshi, who discovered a magical wine; he should let the past be forgotten. Huang promises Murong Yin to marry her sister Murong Yang. But when he doesn't, Murong hires Yin Ouyang to kill Huang. Her sister Murong Yang, however, hires Ouyang to protect Huang. This can be termed schizophrenic because Murong Yang and Murong Yin are actually the same person. Other narrative threads that are independent of this alternate. One depicts Ouyang's efforts to eliminate a gang of horse thieves. He teams up with another swordsman who is slowly going blind and wants to go home to see his wife one last time. When this swordsman is killed, Ouyang meets another who is reluctant to wear shoes. Ouyang sends this man after the horse thieves - this time with success.
