Yuen Biao ( Chinese  元彪 , Pinyin Yuán Biāo , W.-G. Yüan Piao , Jyutping Jyun 4 Biu 1 ; * as Ha Ling-Chun 夏令 震 , Xià Lìngzhèn , Hsia Ling-Chen , Jyutping Haa 6 Ling 6 zan 3 , July 26. 1957 in Hong Kong ) is a Chinese actor and stuntman of the martial arts film from Hong Kong.

biography

At the age of five he began his education at the China Drama Academy , a Beijing Opera school (a kind of boarding school that specializes in martial arts, singing and acting) under the guidance of the strict master Yu Jim-Yuen , who teaches the children there u. a. Discipline, but also fighting (including the Chinese Wing-Chun-Kung-Fu ) and acting. At this school he also met his classmates and later friends Sammo Hung and Jackie Chan .

In 1973, at the age of 16, Yuen Biao was first used as a stunt double for Bruce Lee . He replaced the martial arts legend in the movie Game of Death in the acrobatic acts that were not feasible for the main double, the Taekwondoin Tai Chung Kim . In the late 70s and early 80s, Biao then starred in a few films by Sammo Hung and Jackie Chan, which brought him international fame.

Since then he has played in films again and again, but also took on other tasks, such as B. in the year 2000 in the Jackie-Chan film Shang-High Noon the choreography of the fight scenes. He has also worked as a producer and director.

Since 2005 he can also be seen in a television series called Real Kung Fu , in which he can regularly demonstrate his martial arts.
