Rob-B-Hood ( Chinese  寶貝 計劃  /  宝贝 计划 , Pinyin bǎobèi jìhuà , Cantonese  Bō Bui Gai Wak ) is a direct-to-DVD action comedy directed by Benny Chan from 2006 .

action

Ren Si To and Bai Da Tong are professional burglars. They get the jobs from their landlord. Smart and imaginative, they get into virtually every house at night and crack every safe. But then they get a job that is supposed to change their whole life. Your fee for this coup is seven million Hong Kong dollars. Without knowing what to do, they accept.

When they arrive at their destination, however, they realize that they should kidnap an infant, which Ren Si To and Bai Da Tong do not like at all because they are burglars and not kidnappers.

When the landlord is caught by the police, they hide the baby in their apartment for a while. To properly care for the little one, they need to learn to breastfeed and diaper. But the new luck doesn't seem to last long, because the actual client finds out the whereabouts of the baby and wants it back. But Ren Si To and Bai Da Tong seem to have grown into their father role so much that they mess with the boss's killers.

background

Jackie Chan wanted to get rid of his "nice" image with this film and finally play a villain too. The idea for Rob-B-Hood came from Chan himself. The budget was an estimated 16.8 million US dollars .

The film includes numerous cameo appearances by well-known stars from Hong Kong cinema. For example, Yuen Biao appears as a police officer, Daniel Wu as a money truck driver, Charlene Choi as Bai Da Tong's wife and Nicholas Tse .

The Hong Kong Film Awards was Rob-B-Hood nominated in the categories Best Action Choreography and Best Young Actor (Matthew Medvedev).

Rob-B-Hood premiered on September 8, 2006 at the Venice International Film Festival . It was released on September 29, 2006 in Hong Kong, grossing over 23 million Hong Kong dollars (the equivalent of about 2.9 million US dollars). Worldwide revenues were around $ 20.4 million. In Germany, the film was released on DVD on September 28, 2007 and on Blu-ray on October 28, 2008 , both in a shortened theatrical version. On September 11, 2009 Rob-B-Hood ran for the first time on German television on ProSieben .

criticism

Film Fuchs.de: "Solid, family-oriented action comedy with a not very original basic idea, but which is pepped up with great action and stunt performances by Jackie Chan and his team (including Yuen Biao)."
