Nicholas Tse ( Chinese  謝霆鋒  /  谢霆锋 , Pinyin Xiè Tíngfēng , Jyutping Ze 6 Ting 4 Fung 1 , Cantonese  Tse Ting-Fung; born August 29, 1980 in Hong Kong ) is a Chinese actor and singer; who is also a Canadian citizen.

Nicholas Tse was born in Hong Kong in 1980 , the son of actors Patrick Tse and Deborah Lai. He spent his youth in Vancouver , Canada , where he attended St. George's School, and in Phoenix , Arizona, USA . He finished his school career at an international school in his hometown, which he attended for almost a year.

He turned to music in the mid-1990s and signed a long-term contract with Fitto Entertainment in 1996. A year later, at the invitation of a Hong Kong-based radio station, he sang as a guest at a Chinese music award ceremony. 1997 followed with the platinum- awarded debut album " My Attitude ", which reached the third place on the Hong Kong IFPI charts, the breakthrough as a singer. Tours in Southeast Asia followed.

In 1998 Tse took on his first film role with the role of the young Chan Ho-Nam in Young and Dangerous: The Prequel alongside Sam Lee , Shu Qi and Daniel Wu . For his performance, Nicholas Tse was named Best Young Actor at the 1999 Hong Kong Film Awards .

Nicholas Tse was married to actress Cecilia Cheung from 2006 to 2011. They have two sons.
