Cecilia Cheung ( Chinese  張栢芝 , Pinyin Zhāng Bózhī , Cantonese  Cheung Pak Zhi ; born May 24, 1980 in Hong Kong ) is a Chinese actress and singer .

biography

Cheung was born in Hong Kong to a Chinese father and a Eurasian mother. After her parents divorced, she spent a long time in Australia with her aunt. She had her first appearance in 1998 in a commercial. In 1999, Cheung got her first film role in Stephen Chow's The King of Comedy , where she acted an unhappily in love nightclub hostess. In the same year she received the Best Newcomer Award at the Hong Kong Film Awards for her role in Fly Me to Polaris . For Derek Yees Lost in Time (2003) she then won the award for best actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards. Cheung speaks Cantonese , English and Mandarin (with a heavy Cantonese accent). From 2006 to 2011, Cheung was married to Hong Kong star Nicholas Tse . They have two sons.
