Derek Yee
Derek Yee Tung-Sing ( Chinese 爾冬陞 / 尔冬升 , Pinyin Ěr Dōngshēng , Jyutping Ji 5 Dung 1 sing 1 ; * December 28, 1957 ) is a film director and screenwriter from Hong Kong .
Act
Yee was an actor from 1975 to 1986 . During this time his films were produced by the Shaw Brothers . Since 1986 he has only been a director and screenwriter. He made films that were successful in Hong Kong and received several awards. In addition to comedies and romantic films, he also shot dramas such as Protégé and City of Violence .
Private life
He is the younger half-brother of actor David Chiang and the ex-boyfriend of Maggie Cheung .
