Shu Qi ( Chinese  舒淇 , Pinyin Shū Qí ; born April 16, 1976 in Taipei ) is a Taiwanese actress .

Life

In the mid-1990s, Shu Qi posed naked for various magazines and photo books, including the Hong Kong - Chinese Playboy . Her first films were also more erotic in nature. She made her film debut in 1996 in Sex and Zen II and Viva Erotica with Anthony Wong Chau-Sang and Leslie Cheung . In the following years, however, she changed the genre and was seen in several independent productions such as Love is not a Game, but a Joke by producer Stanley Kwan or in 1998 in Yonfan's highly acclaimed love story Bishonen… Beauty alongside Daniel Wu . This was in 1999 when gays Bischen Film Festival in Milan named best film. Shu Qi was able to establish itself increasingly and also got roles in feature films . In the same year she starred alongside Jackie Chan in the martial arts film Under Control . Other Asian productions followed, and Shu Qi stood in front of the camera with many stars of Asian cinema.

Finally Shu Qi made the leap into American cinema . In the French - American action film The Transporter by directors Louis Leterrier and Corey Yuen , she played the female lead alongside Jason Statham . For her convincing portrayal in the Franco-Taiwanese episode film Three Times , Shu Qi was awarded the prize for best actress at the 2005 Golden Horse Film Festival . In the love film, which has received critical acclaim and has won several film festivals, Shu Qi embodies three different roles in different eras. In 2006 she took on the role of Aryong Lim in the movie KillerLady . The character was portrayed in the previous films My Wife Is a Gangster and My Wife Is a Gangster 2 by her colleague Shin Eun-kyung .

In 2008 Shu Qi was appointed to the competition jury at the 58th Berlin Film Festival , and a year later to the competition jury at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival .
