Stanley Kwan
Stanley Kwan ( Chinese 關錦鵬 / 关锦鹏 , Pinyin Guān Jǐnpéng , Jyutping Gwaan 1 Gam 2 paang 4 , born October 9, 1957 in Hong Kong ) is one of the most important directors of the so-called Second Wave ( Nouvelle Vague ) of Hong Kong cinema , along with Wong Kar-Wai .
His directorial debut Women (女人 心, 1985) was a big box office hit in Hong Kong , with the still unknown Chow Yun-Fat . International success achieved by his third film Kwan Rouge / The Legend of Fleur (胭脂扣, 1988), it is the story of a courtesan told, the 1934 suicide commits and examined in 1987 as a spirit her lover. In his documentary "Yang and Yin - The Game of the Sexes in Chinese Cinema" (男生 女 相, 1996) he came out as gay towards the end.
