Digsby is an instant messaging client that chat - services , social networking platforms and e-mail merges communication. The software bundles all networks under one interface and offers access to ICQ , Windows Live Messenger , Yahoo Messenger , Google Talk and other XMPP services, the social networks Facebook and Myspace , the microblogging service Twitter , and any e-mail inboxes. At first only a beta version was released, for which you need a so-called "invitation code" in order to install it. As of March 20, 2008, this invitation code is no longer required.

criticism

Digsby was particularly criticized because it "sells" the computing time of its users. This has also been confirmed by a Digsby developer, but this function can be deactivated. When installing the software, some programs, toolbars etc. are offered for installation, whereby the design is apparently designed to motivate the user to accept it. In addition, Digsby saves all account data, including the passwords, on a server owned by the operating company in order to enable easy access to all stored accounts from any device without having to set them up manually.
