Justina Machado
Justina Machado (born September 6, 1972 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actress with Puerto Rican roots.
Life
Her family immigrated from Puerto Rico and settled in Chicago. It was there that their parents met for the first time and later married. Together they had 5 children, Justina is the oldest. During her school days she played an active role in the theater group at her school. In 1986 she attended Lane Tech High School . In her spare time she played with the Latino Chicago Theater Company .
She graduated from high school in 1990 and moved to New York City some time later . The acting experience she gained with the Latino Chicago Theater Company helped her gain a foothold in New York City. Soon after, she was offered a job as a professional actress in Los Angeles . In 1996 she had her first minor roles in television series.
Her best-known films include AI - Artificial Intelligence with Haley Joel Osment , In the Sign of the Dragonfly and Final Destination 2 with Michael Landes . In the television series Six Feet Under , she was initially able to get a supporting role, which was later converted into a leading role.
In addition to her work as a film and television actress, she also appears in theater productions. The best known pieces include Blade to the Heat and Black Butterfly (both performed at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles).
