Queen of the South is an American television series that premiered on USA Network on June 23, 2016 . The series is inspired by the novel La reina del sur by the author Arturo Pérez-Reverte as well as a Spanish-language US telenovela of the same name by the station Telemundo ; the plot was relocated to the USA and is largely detached from the original as the series progresses. The German-language first broadcast has been on DMAX since June 14, 2017 .
By the end of August 2017, two seasons with a total of 26 episodes were broadcast in the US; a third season ordered in August 2017 was released in June 2018, the fourth season in June 2019. A fifth season is to appear in 2021; Most recently, filming was interrupted due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Teresa Mendoza lives in Mexico with her boyfriend, a drug courier. When he is killed one day, Teresa flees from the Mexican drug lords to the USA. There she enters into strategic alliances in the drug smuggling scene, learns the procedure and comes to the realization that she has to come high up in the hierarchy in order to survive on the one hand and to get to the people responsible for the death of her friend on the other she wants to take revenge.

The German dubbed version is based on dialogue books by Erik Paulsen and Angelika Brötzmann , and is created (as of Jan. 2018) under the dialogue direction of Erik Paulsen in the dubbing studios of Antares Film GmbH in Berlin .
