Daniel "Dan" Louis Castellaneta (born October 29, 1957 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actor , screenwriter and voice actor of many cartoon characters, the most famous cartoon character of which is Homer in the series The Simpsons .

Live and act

Castellaneta had his first television appearance in 1987 on the Tracey Ullman Show , in which he took on various roles. The first episodes of The Simpsons, which were only a few minutes long, were also shown on this program, and Castellaneta took over the voice of Homer Simpson . When The Simpsons got its own half-hourly slot in 1989, he was taken on as a speaker and speaks for the series to this day. Several supporting characters such as Abraham Simpson , Barney Gumble and Joe Quimby are also dubbed by him.

Dan Castellaneta also took on speaking roles in other cartoon series and was hired as an actor in some film productions for supporting roles. You can find his voice in the English versions of Futurama as the robot devil , as the genius in the Disney series Aladdin and in Hey Arnold as Grandpa Phil , whom he also speaks in the 2017 Hey Arnold film. He has also been a guest star on many American television series. In 2010, Castellaneta received $ 400,000 for every single episode of The Simpsons. In 2013 it was $ 300,000.

Although Castellaneta speaks the voice of Homer Simpson, his lifestyle is completely different; in an interview he stated that he is a vegetarian, abstains from alcohol and exercises regularly. When his mother Elsie Castellaneta passed away, a Simpsons episode was dedicated to her and Harry Shearer's mother , which deals entirely with the death of Mona Simpsons (Homer's mother).
