Mey Lan Chao

Meylan Chao (also Mey Lan Chao ) (born March 1, 1970 in Beijing ) is a German actress of Chinese origin.

Life

Chao attended the radio college in Beijing and the University of the Arts in Berlin , where she took the subject "Directing for television films". In a Hollywood acting workshop in Los Angeles , she was trained in acting, camera acting, and singing and dance. In 1995, Chao started her career in Germany with a small role in two episodes of the television series Frauenarzt Dr. Markus Merthin , in which Sascha Hehn played the leading role. She then played the role of the maid Else in the film adaptation of Hans Fallada's novel The Drinker . In the 1996 Good Times, Bad Times series , Chao played Harumi Shimizu, a businesswoman, and through this role she became known to a wider audience.

She then appeared in the television series Die Straßen von Berlin (1995), Alarm für Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei (1996) and Behind Bars - Der Frauenknast (2004). In 2004 she played a waitress in the movie Samba in Mettmann . In 2008 she played a leading role in the Tatort episode The Dead Chinese . In the television series Men in Trees (2006-2008), she lent her voice to the character Mom Mai, played by Lauren Tom. Lauren Tom has been dubbed by Chao in various films. The dubbing file lists 36 speaking roles for the actress.
