Melora Walters (born October 21, 1968 in Dhahran , Saudi Arabia ) is an American actress
Life and accomplishments
Walters was born in Saudi Arabia to American parents. She grew up there and in the Netherlands. Walters attended the Lake Forest Academy -Ferry Hall in Lake Forest , Illinois.
The first film in whose credits Walters was mentioned was The Dead Poets Club from 1989. For her role in the drama Boogie Nights (1997) she was nominated for the 1998 Screen Actors Guild Award as a member of the acting ensemble and with the Florida Film Critics Circle Award . For the role in the film drama Magnolia (1999), she received another nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Award and the second Florida Film Critics Circle Award in 2000.
In the action thriller Desert Saints (2000), Walters played one of the bigger roles alongside Kiefer Sutherland . In the thriller WiseGirls (2002) she took on one of the leading roles alongside Mira Sorvino and Mariah Carey . For the role in the comedy Melvin Goes to Dinner (2003), she won the Copper Wing Award of the Phoenix Film Festival in 2003 as a member of the acting ensemble . In the television series Big Love , she has played a sister-in-law of the Utah- based polygamist Bill Henrickson ( Bill Paxton ), who is married to Barbara ( Jeanne Tripplehorn ), Nicolette ( Chloë Sevigny ) and Margene ( Ginnifer Goodwin ), since 2006 .
Walters married actor and director Christopher Scotellaro in 1990 and divorced him in 1994. From 1996 to 2003 she was married to the actor Dylan Walsh , by whom she has a son (* 1996) and a daughter (* 1997). She married cinematographer Alex Vendler in June 2008 and filed for divorce in September 2010.
