Jonathan Cake

Jonathan James Cake (born August 31, 1967 in Worthing , West Sussex ) is a British actor .

Life

Jonathan Cake is the youngest of three sons of a glass merchant and a teacher . In his childhood he came into contact with the art of pantomime . This sparked his interest in the performing arts . Up to the age of eight he took acting lessons and appeared in many plays. In his youth he toured London with the National Youth Theater . After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Cambridge , which he graduated in 1989. In college he was a rugby player . He completed a two-year course at the Bristol Old Vic Theater School and then worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company .

He made his first experience in television in 1993 in the British comedy series Press Gang . He had another television appearance in 1994 in Carrott U Like from the BBC . The following year he played a small role in the film The 1st Knight at the side of Sean Connery , Richard Gere and Julia Ormond . After further small appearances, he was cast as Gareth in Degrees of Error in 1995 . He also played a leading role in the historical drama Mosley . In 2005 he played Sertorius in the US miniseries Empire . He also gained fame through the role of Chuck Vance in the last two seasons of the television series Desperate Housewives .

Cake married the actress Julianne Nicholson in 2004 , with whom he has a son (* 2007) and a daughter (* 2009).
