Scott Stewart Bakula (pronunciation: bækjʊlə , born October 9, 1954 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American actor .

biography

Born the son of a lawyer, Bakula began music at an early age and played in a band during his college days . He then began studying law at the University of Kansas, which he dropped out early.

In 1983, Bakula made his Broadway debut in the role of Joe DiMaggio in Marilyn, An American Fable . His television debut consisted of television commercials for coffee and lemonade, so he played the leading role in the Broadway musical Romance, Romance and was nominated for a Tony Award in 1988 , which gave him an advantage in 1989 when he was awarded the leading role as Dr. Sam Beckett procured, which he played in the television series Back to the Past (English. Quantum Leap ; in German " Quantum Leap ") together with Dean Stockwell . In 1999, he played Kevin Spacey's gay neighbor in the Oscar- winning American Beauty . In 2001, appearances in Stormy Times and Role of a Lifetime followed .

From 2001 to 2005 he played the character of Captain Jonathan Archer in the science fiction television series Star Trek: Enterprise .

In April 2006, he played the role of Charlie Anderson in the musical Shenandoah , which was performed at the historic Ford's Theater in Washington .

In 2014, Scott Bakula received a leading role in the series Navy CIS: New Orleans , an offshoot of the Navy CIS series .

Private life

His marriage to Krista Neumann in 1981 resulted in two children. In 1995 the couple divorced. In 1993 Bakula met actress Chelsea Field while shooting the film Immoral Desires and entered into a relationship with her that later resulted in two other sons. The couple married in 2009 after 15 years of relationship.

Scott Bakula has two siblings, Brad and Linda.
