Marc Cherry
Marc Cherry (born March 23, 1962 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American writer and producer. He became known through the series Desperate Housewives that he designed .
Career
In the 1990s, he wrote and produced the sitcom The Golden Girls . Cherry wrote for the series and also wrote for its short-lived spin-off, Golden Palace .
Cherry also co-founded The Crew (1995). He himself created Some of My Best Friends , a comedy series based on the film Kiss Me, Guido in 2001 .
Cherry came from the well-known performance group The Young Americans .
The breakthrough in 2004
In 2004, a conversation with his mother inspired him to design a program about the life of four housewives. After the stations HBO , FOX , CBS and NBC rejected the concept, the station ABC gave Marc Cherry the big breakthrough by including the series in the program. The format known as "Dramedy" became known straight away and sparked national and international debates.
Political commitment
Cherry was described in Newsweek as "a little conservative, homosexual Republican ".
In 2006 he received the American Visibility Award from the Log Cabin Republicans .
