Golden Palace was the sequel to the sitcom Golden Girls . It was filmed and broadcast from 1992 to 1993.
In the series Golden Girls , Beatrice Arthur , Betty White , Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty played a four-woman flat share who spend their old age together in Florida . With mutual guest appearances and crossovers, the series Golden Girls , Golden Palace , Harrys Nest and Hallo Sister! a common series universe .
After 180 Golden Girls episodes, Arthur dropped out of the series because she was of the opinion that the series would run the risk of losing its originality and pun in future episodes. The other three actresses wanted to continue shooting and so the series Golden Palace was born , in which the three continued their respective roles from the Golden Girls and as such bought and operated a hotel - the Golden Palace .
However, only 24 episodes were filmed, as it quickly became clear that the success of the Golden Girls was based on the fact that the four characters were ideally coordinated and harmonized with each other and that this interaction no longer worked without Beatrice Arthur. To replace them, Don Cheadle ( Roland Wilson ) and Cheech Marin ( Chuy Castillos ) were added to the series. Roland is the receptionist of the Golden Palace Hotel and Chuy takes care of the kitchen with the help of Sophia. The boy Oliver also appears more frequently.

music
An almost identical team was used for this offshoot of the Golden Girls . The title melody - but here in an interpretation by the composer Andrew Gold and not, as in Golden Girls , by Cynthia Fee - and the stage music composers George Aliceson Tipton and Andrew Gold have been preserved.
At the beginning of their music in the scene you could still notice the closeness to the Golden Girls , as the original music of the Golden Girls was taken over in the first episodes of the Golden Palace and this was only gradually replaced by new compositions especially for this series.
