Sexual medicine
As a branch of clinical and outpatient medicine, sexual medicine deals with all aspects that serve to maintain and promote sexual health . Sexual medicine does not designate a branch of medicine of its own, but rather combines various medical disciplines in an interdisciplinary discourse with other branches of science such as psychotherapy , social psychology and ethics .
Sexual health
According to the WHO, sexual health is defined as follows: Sexual health is the state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being related to sexuality and does not just mean the absence of illness, dysfunction or weakness. Sexual health requires both a positive, respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the opportunity for pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free from oppression, discrimination and violence. If sexual health is to be achieved and preserved, the sexual rights of all human beings must be recognized, protected, and respected.
