Barbara Ratthey (born April 3, 1940 - October 18, 2009 in Berlin ) was a German actress , radio play and voice actress . She became particularly well-known for her work as a voice actress, e.g. B. as the German voice of actress Estelle Getty in Golden Girls or Stop! Or my mommy shoots!

Life

Barbara Ratthey received her training in Berlin at the Max Reinhardt Drama School . The city was also the focus of their theatrical activity; In particular, she played at the Schiller Theater, the Theater am Kurfürstendamm, the Vaganten Stage and the Small Theater on the South West Corso. In film and television she was seen in the movie Rockys Messer in 1967 (written and directed by Joachim Mock ), in 1987 in the TV series An elegant dog (alongside Rita Russek and Helmuth Lohner ) and in sketches on the television show Dalli Dalli . However, a large audience is less aware of her appearance than her voice. She spoke roles in numerous radio plays and books for NDR , WDR and Radio Bremen as well as Deutsche Grammophon, among others . From 1966 she worked as a voice actress.

Barbara Ratthey died on October 18, 2009 after a long illness in a Berlin hospice.

Work as a voice actress

Barbara Ratthey and her deep, mostly hoarse-sounding voice achieved particular popularity through the dubbing of the American actress Estelle Getty , whom she voiced for the first time for the sitcom Golden Girls .
