The school forum decides on matters that are assigned to it for decision-making, with binding effect on the school: school profile, rules of conduct and house rules, break regulations and catering, principles governing the implementation of events in the context of school life.

Resolutions made in other matters mean recommendations, e.g. B. essential questions of school organization, school route safety and accident prevention, construction work, social work , naming the school. If the school newspaper working group demands that a negative decision by the school director be dealt with in the school forum, this must be convened. It can also mediate in conflict cases at the request of a person concerned. The school forum does not meet publicly, but non-members can also be consulted on individual agenda items without voting rights. The school forum meets at least once every school year.

Austria

In the committees of the preschool , elementary school , special school and secondary school , the school community is made up of elected representatives of the interests of teachers and legal guardians. In the school forum, all class parent representatives are members, the head of the school forum is chaired by the head teacher. The school forum meets at least in the first nine weeks after the start of school and deals with matters that go beyond the scope of a class or affect the entire school, such as measures within the framework of school autonomy . The school forum is responsible for issuing school-autonomous curriculum provisions, the school-independent determination of opening and division numbers of classes and the cooperation with schools or extracurricular institutions.

At the other school types, such as the polytechnic school , the general high school (AHS) or the Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium (BORG), there is a school community committee (SGA) in Austria , which also includes student representatives.
