Brandenburg

In Brandenburg, the primary legal bases are § 83 and § 84 of the Law on Schools in the State of Brandenburg, which deal with the conference of pupils (KdSuS, also school conference ).

The student representative chairs this conference and invites it. As a rule, the student representative is elected from among the voting members of the student conference, unless the latter has decided that the student representative is elected by all students from among the entire group of students. Up to three deputies are elected for the student representative, but at least one.

In addition to leading the conference, the student representative also takes on the management of the conference and is therefore primarily responsible for representing the interests of the students in schools and for promoting willingness to participate. Furthermore, he has to contribute to the realization of the school's educational mandate. Thus, after the class / year spokespersons, the student representatives are the first point of contact for problems with teachers, new ideas or suggestions for the school and questions about how to participate within them.

As for all other offices, the term of office is a maximum of two years, but can also end earlier, for example after being voted out of office, leaving school, resigning or in by-elections when the respective term of office has expired. In principle, all students from grade 4 can be elected.
