The state student council of Saarland (short: "LSV Saar") is the official state student council of the Saarland and represents the interests of about 100,000 students of all school types vis-à-vis politics and the public. The basis for this right to representation is Act No. 994, on co-determination and participation in the school system - School Co-determination Act (SchumG) of the Saarland state law.
tasks
The LSV Saar advises the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Saarland on all measures affecting schoolchildren in the Saarland. It is the first link between politics, the public and the students. In addition, the state student council maintains contacts with all democratic parties and cooperates with various external partners.
Structure and organs
LSV Saar is the official agency for almost all types of schools, with the exception of privately owned schools.
It consists of the following organs:
- State Board (LaVo)
- State Delegate Conference (LDK)
- Executive board
Each student council of a school in Saarland sends a delegate to the state delegate conference, from which the state board is formed every two years.
The state delegate conference is the highest body of the LSV Saar. It advises and decides on all positions of the state student council or instructs the state board. The state delegates' conference usually meets twice in a calendar year.
The state board consists of a chairman, the deputy chairman, the heads of administration, public & relations, politics & finance, connections & representation and principals & committees, as well as a number of assessors to be determined by the LDK. The board has the possibility, with the consent of the LDK and a unanimous board decision, to co-opt further members to the board .
